The Co-Academic Coordinator will coordinate and administer all academic aspects of the Arabic Overseas Flagship (AOF) Capstone program indirect, active partnership with the current Academic Coordinator. S/he will be responsible for the design and quality of Moroccan Colloquial Arabic (MCA), and Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) courses provided to American participants of the AOF Capstone program in Meknes, Morocco at the Arab American Language Institute in Morocco (AALIM).

The core responsibilities consist of the following: coordinate the instruction of courses, oversee the quality of instruction, oversee the academic progress of AOF Capstone participants, provide faculty training and evaluations, design curriculum and lesson plans, oversee the cohesion of course sections, and teach at least three Arabic language courses per year.
The Language Flagship and the Arabic Overseas Flagship (AOF) Capstone Program:
The Language Flagship is an effort to change the way Americans learn languages. The Language Flagship offers language programs at schools across the United States (U.S.) for undergraduate students in critical languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu. Designed as a network of programs, The Language Flagship seeks to graduate students who will take their place among the next generation of global professionals, commanding a superior level of proficiency in one of many critical languages.
American Councils of International Education (ACIE) works in partnership with The Language Flagship and AALIM to administer the AOF Capstone program in Meknes, Morocco. Participants of the AOF Capstone program complete the equivalent of four academic years of Arabic language studies at their U.S. home institution before pursuing a full academic year of intensive and immersive Arabic language studies in Morocco with the goal of reaching superior proficiency in the language.
- Demonstrated ability to design and conduct innovative, student-centered courses in Advanced Arabic;
- At least four years’ experience teaching U.S. students Arabic at the advanced level;
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and mentor instructors and to conduct effective training seminars for instructors of Arabic at the advanced level;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic colleagues over an extended period;
- Thorough knowledge of Moroccan dialect
- Strong coordination and administrative abilities working in intensive language programs;
- Positive evaluations of previous teaching performance;
- BA in Arabic or equivalent.

- Demonstrated understanding of the Flagship Program’s goals, pedagogy, and standards;
- Experience teaching in the Flagship program or a similar type of intensive language program (CLS, NSLI-Y, CASA, etc);
- MA or PHD in Arabic or equivalent (strongly preferred);
- OPI Certification;
- Certification in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) or equivalent.
